What is the MainWP Dashboard?

For those of you who are unfamiliar with MainWP, it’s a WordPress dashboard management plugin. When the MainWP Dashboard plugin is installed on a domain it allows you to connect Child sites to your Main WP Dashboard and the ability to update plugins and themes, backup your sites, and check for security issues.

MainWP Performance Results on PeoplesHost

To ensure our shared hosting environment was suitable for MainWP, Dennis had Luke Cavanagh, a WordPress Performance Engineer run tests on a live environment.

Luke tested the back-end with 100 Child sites connected to the MainWP Dashboard. These Child sites were on a separate server. Syncing time was tested, uploading 3 plugins and updating the three plugins (300 uploads and updates). The three plugins are Akismet, If Menu and Contact Form 7.

Here are the results of those tests (taken from the blog post on MainWP’s site):

• Syncing 100 sites: 2 Min 54 seconds
• 3 Plugins Installed and Activated (300 installations): 2 min 20 seconds
• 3 Plugins Updated (300 updates): 4 min 19 seconds

High Speed MainWP Settings Performance Results

Dennis also wrote a blog post on how to speed up your MainWP Dashboard. Luke used those settings to perform another test:

• Syncing 100 sites: 48 seconds (2 minutes 6 seconds faster)
• 3 Plugins Installed and Activated (300 installations): 1 min 38 seconds (42 seconds faster)
• 3 Plugins Updated (300 updates): 1 min 10 seconds (3 minutes 9 seconds faster)
